I'm a musician and entrepreneur from Ottawa Ontario Canada, home of some great live music festivals such as Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest, TD Ottawa International Jazz Festival, Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, CKCU Ottawa Folk Festival, Ottawa Reggae Festival, Westfest, just to name a few.
So here I am, new to Tumblr and exploring the different features on here, little would I know that there was/is an audio feature to upload songs! Very exciting!!! That being Said, I thought that for my first musical upload I would have to post something really cool! Also something lesser known to the majority of people so that you can discover something new and hopefully something you will really dig. I have been playing guitar for a number of years and only really heard who Paul Gilbert was not too long ago myself.
This song comes from a solo album from the guitarist Paul Gilbert who is well known for his highly-acclaimed technical guitar work with Racer X and Mr. Big, as well as many solo albums and numerous collaborations and guest appearances with other musicians. This song is titled “Maybe I’ll Die Tomorrow” from his 2003 Album Acoustic Samurai….and yes, I know this song is not acoustic. :P However, most of the album actually is acoustic & live which is always a great way to separate a good musician from a great one in my opinion. He even does an original acoustic cover of Abba’s Dancing Queen, which to me just shows you that he plays because he loves what he does and doesn’t care if you think that makes him a [insert insult here]. Maybe I’ll post it sometime in the future.
Anyway, I thought that this would be a great first song to share since it encompasses a lot of what I like in a good rock/metal song; heavy & energetic music, lots of guitar melodies, even singing that’s in key and understandable!
Oh…did I mention that it rocks hard? :)
